About Me

My photo
James Shaw
For the last fifteen years, James has worked tirelessly to bring his unique perspective and revolutionary healing techniques to the world. Based in the principals of the internal martial arts of Tai Chi and Ba Qua and Eastern healing arts, James’ program challenges riders to question and change old beliefs about balance, movement and strength. James has achieved international acclaim from World Class athletes, medical professionals and trainers for his unique understanding and application of the biomechanics of the body as dictated by the principles of Tai Chi. His ability to teach us “HOW” to receive and redirect a greater power is what separates him from other instructors. His techniques promote health, well being and longevity in work, peak athletic performance and every day life. James Shaw has been a student of the Martial and Healing Arts for over thirty years. He works with international world class athletes of all disciplines, medical and healing professionals and anyone with issues of chronic (injury) pain and health maintenance in everyday life.

Here's what people are saying about James'

"I have ridden with countless clinicians. The tools that I have acquired from working with James Shaw have proven to be the best return on my investment as a rider and instructor. The Tai Chi principals combined with James' comprehensive teaching style has proven to be the most valuable instruction that I've ever experienced."Susie Hoffman, Peacock, Grand Prix level competitor and USDF Certified Instructor, CA

"James Shaw is a Tai Chi instructor who gives clinics applying this 4000 year-old healing and martial art to riding. James helps riders turn hardness into softness and force into partnered harmony. We are truly fortunate to have an instructor with James' incredible eye, knowledge and heart available to us."Dr. Susan Connors, DCM, May 2006, WA

"...So for the firs time in my riding history I am able to really sit the trot and sit transitions with muscular relaxation and breathing which of course allows me to stay with the movement of my horse and keeps her back and mind relaxed."Sara Cuenin, AZ

"Working with James has opened doors for me that I never thought were even possible. "I have been working with James for the last few years now and my seat has improved tremendously since then. I always strongly believe that less is more and James has given me the tools to achieve this goal in riding. I feel it is a tremendous gift that horses allow us to ride them and therefore I think we have the obligation to make this experience as pleasant for them as possible. James' teachings have helped, and continue to help me to honor this obligation to the best of my abilities."Ute Mieethe, LMT/LAMT, MCTMB, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, WA
